We have another 4 great bands who are set to battle it out for the chance to play a primetime set at The External Sounds Tent at this years Electric Picnic Festival. The bands that will compete in this heat to join The Fontanels & Anne Nagle in the final are...

MOONFACE - This three piece from Drogheda was formed by its members while studying music performance at Ballyfermot's 'Rock school' in Dublin. The guys have been together since 2008 and have been gigging extensively throughout the country including venues such as Whelans, Dublin. The band themselves describe themselves as Indie-Rock and cite influences such as Zeppelin, Stone Roses and Rush. BOY LIGHT FIRE - Formed in September 2009, Boy Lights Fire fuse melodic indie sounds with progressive riffs that are supported by upbeat dance rhythms. They say their sound is heavily influences by bands such as Redneck Manifesto, Fighting With Wire & Death Cab for Cutie. while lyrically inspiration is often drawn from modern day mythology, conspiracies, and the magic of beautifully deranged souls that have appeared on street corners near us all.

THE LONG KNIVES - This band first emerged out of the dedicated work of Niall O'Riordan, a long standing player on Dublin's music scene, who has shared the stage with performers such as Christy Moore, Glen Hansard, Damien Dempsey, Sack, Damien Rice & Paddy Casey. Since the release of their debut mini album “Kiss you cursed seducer” in 2007 which was mastered by alt-rock legend and celebrated American producer Kramer in Miami, The Long Knives have gone on to release the well received Cheap Wine EP in 2009, showcasing their ever evolving progressive sound which has drawn comparisons to, dEUS, Cocteau Twins, American Music Club, The Gun Club, & Sonic Youth. www.myspace.com/thelongknivesireland
