External Sounds Present...NYE Party 2009-2010 Will Tramp (Manchester), Trenchtown (Live) & External Sounds Djs, Thur 31st Dec

As the Christmas festivities approach they bring with them the party night that is New Years Eve. This year we are not only celebrating the end of another year, but the conclusion of another decade. As ever here at External Sounds HQ we are busy putting the finishing touches to our annual New Years Eve Knees Up!

The Naughties, as they have been rightly or wrongly dubbed, has been a great decade for External Sounds. From its birth in Townley Hall woods in the warm summer of 2001, to its now permanent residence in The Purple Room, it’s been an epic journey with 2009 being been an extra special year for all involved with the collective. With this in mind we have tried very hard to make this New Years Eve Party the extra special event that it deserves to be. The resident External Sounds djs will be joined on the night by one of Manchester's best young djs, ‘Will Tramp’ as well as Drogheda Ska/Reggae legends ‘Trenchtown’, for what is going to be one hell of a party.

Manchester Dj Will Tramp, or William Dunn to his mum, has certainly made a big impact on the cities club scene in the short period of time that he has been involved. His weekly club night ‘TRAMP’ has been one of the cities big success stories of the pass few years. Since its beginnings in a small dark dank German beer hall back in 2004, the night has played host to artists and groups that now sell out large music venues and command headline slots and major festivals. Bands such as Franz Ferdinand, Justice, The Klaxons, New Young Pony Club, and artists like Diplo, Wolfgang Flur (Kraftwerk) & Simian Mobile Disco have all performed at his night. In describing the music policy of the night Will said ”We just wanted to create a truly unique night where we could happily play Afrika Bambaata next to ACDC, Green Velvet next to Motorhead, Indie alongside screaming Techno, and gay disco into dubstep.” It has been this keen ear for new music, and ability to mix tunes from so many different styles and genres in the interesting way that he does, that has seen him play alongside the likes of The Chemical Brothers, 2 Many Djs, Erol Alkan, and Carl Craig, in clubs and festivals such as Fabric, Electric Chair, The End, Big Chill, Electric Elephant in Croatia, and the Transalpine Festival in France.

As ever at an External Sounds night, we try to keep the musical programming as diverse as possible with quality and entertainment been key. Our live act on the night definitely ticks all those boxes. Drogheda Ska/Reggae band ‘Trenchtown’ are one of Ireland's finest purveyors of this music genre. Formed back in 1988 at the height of the 80's reggae revival, they have consistently wowed their audiences with their bouncy reggae and furious ska sound. The band came to prominence in 1989 when they reached the final of the coveted Hot Press Magazine 'Battle of the Bands' competition, where they were narrowly beaten by 'Just A Philistine'.
In there long career they have supported acts such as Bad Manners, The Special Beat and The Motivators, while performing in the countries top venues as well as an appearance at the Brixton Academy in London.

Doors for this event will be open from 9pm and access to The Purple Room is via the Fairgreen door only. Tickets are priced 12 euro and are available from UNIT1 clothes shop, Shop Street, Drogheda.
