External Sounds Djs @ Fatty Fatty , SAT 9th October 2010

Posted by external sounds on September 15, 2010

Fatty Fatty and Radiomade.ie are teaming up to present a bi-monthly party in The Sugar Club, launching on Saturday October 9th. Fatty Fatty is a vehicle for Power FM's Nic Keane, renowned for his leftfield cosmic sounds, as well as disco king Pablo of Downtownsounds and Nightflight fame. They've teamed up with deep house don Aaron Dempsey ( 12 Sundays/The Bernard Shaw) and his Radiomade crew to bring Dublin a fresh new night.

Taking over the venue from 9pm each evening, the parties will be all about showcasing some of Ireland's finest dj's and live acts alongside renowned international acts.

For the opening night we have a bill jam packed with talent.....

The External Sounds DJ's are a Drogheda based crew who for the last 3 years have run a tent in Electric Picnic's much loved 'Body and Soul' area, as well as curating a stage at the inaugural Body and Soul festival in June. They also find time to run a monthly hoedown in The Purple Room in their hometown, bringing a range of local and international DJ's to a passionate and musically clued in crowd.

Another Drogheda native will also be on the bill as Kev Sheridan showcases his infamous 'One Man Loop' show. Using a variety of electronic gadgets to make modern dancefloor beats, Kev sings snatches of popular hits over them, as well as adding live percussion into the mix as he beats out rhythms on a variety of traditional African drums. The overall effect is overwhelming and quite wondrous.

Next up will be even more percussion frenzy as Waterford's Torann take to the stage. This 6 piece outfit is made up entirely of percussion instruments, weaving amazing threads of frenetic, samba-influenced rhythms.

The night will be headlined by Chicago's DJ Rahaan, a world renowned turntable technician who has played numerous Dublin gigs since Downtownsounds provided him with his first European gig in 2006. You can expect funk, boogie, disco classica y obscura, and lashings of proper house music from this dj's dj.

Since his European debut four years ago his reputation has increased with a string of production releases on underground labels such as Jisco Music and Stillove4Music, and he has brought his unique style to the four corners of the globe.

Already confirmed for Decembers' party are Brighton's Soft Rocks crew, who have been producing some of the finest music on the 21st Century disco/house continuum over the last few years....

Stand by for more stellar additions to the bill over the next few weeks.....
