In 2001 External Sounds members rented a generator, packed their decks and records into the back of a taxi, and headed for Townley Hall woods on the outskirts of Drogheda for a party. This was the first step in a long and exciting journey that has brought them to play venues such as The Button Factory, The POD, The Grand Social, Twisted Pepper, and the Sugar Club. Invites to perform at festivals such as Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, Life Festival, and Latitude, as well as a few jaunts around Europe via Manchester, London, Berlin, Finland and Croatia. Along the way they've got to play with some of their musical icons like Norman Jay, The Unabombers, Goldfrapp, Mr Scruff, and Wolfgang Flur, to name but a few. They were instrumental in setting up The Purple Room, and along with the likes of Milk, and Subculture, helped write a new chapter in the underground music scene in Drogheda by booking the best of local, national, and international artists. They continue to promote nights and events, and regularly receive invitations to play national as well as internationally.
