Fusion & External Sounds ringing in the new era!!, mon 31st of December

The Blizzards will be playing the newly constructed Fusion Main Room this New Years Eve, while monthly music night External Sounds will be hosting the front bar, to help ring in the New Year, and a new era at Fusion Nightclub, Drogheda.

The Irish rock act have been confirmed as headliners with Drogheda acts Geriko, Qmusic, and the External Sounds dj's being joined by Londoners Iain Earle and Stuart Rathborne, for a line-up that will definitely see the new year in with a bang!

The Blizzards are a 5 piece rock band that hail from Mullingar, who are making big noise in the music industry. This past year has seen the pop rockers sign a recording contract with Universal Music, release three top ten singles, and release their critically acclaimed debut album A Public Display of Affection which has now gone platinum. To top that, the band made an appearance on the Main Stage at this years Oxegen festival after previously performing on the New Bands Stage and then the NME stage. On the back of this they are up for 2 awards at this years Meteor music awards. The band are up for best Irish Pop Act as wll as best live performance for there set at this years Oxegen Festival.

Their debut album A Public Display of Affection was released the Universal record label in October and produced by legendary US producer Michael Beinhorn (Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Korn, Soundgarden to name but a few ) Beinhorn's infamous beefy production perfectly captures the bands long-established live reputation, matching their lust for life with a bright, loud and cheerful sound. The album features many hi singles including - 'First Girl to Leave Town', 'Trouble' and 'Miss Fantanasia Preaches' and 'War of Words' Tracks such as
'Freaky', 'Fantasy' and 'Superdrug' radiate the bands playful edge.

They have recently played nights at renowned venues 'King Tuts' in Glasgow and 'Leadmill' in Sheffield, as well as two nights at Dublin's Ambassador Theatre. The second night been added after the first sold out in a very short space of time.

Drogheda band Geriko will also be performing but not in their usual capacity. The lads will be swapping their instruments for turntables as they perform a dj set in the front bar. They have said to expect to hear them play the music that they like to party to, as well as the tunes that inspires them to write the music the band is know for.

There will also be dj sets from London native Stuart Rathborne as well as the external sounds djs. The djs on the night will be accompanied by percussionist Iain Earle who is flying in from Manchester to perform on the night. Originally from London, the Manchester based drummer began playing professionally at age 15, playing in a Punk/New wave group across the UK . Iain now plies his trade as a session drummer and is adapt at playing many different style on the kit. He says his wide taste and knowledge of music was learnt from his successful session musician father, John Earle who played saxophone with legendary Irish Rock act
'Thin Lizzy'.

Also on the line-up are musical mash-up specialists and external sounds regulars 'Qmusic'. Qmusic who is made up of members Keith Kelly and Martin Brogan, are a similar type of act to Soulwax's popular '2 Many Dj's' persona, bringing together live sampling and turntablism. Their performances at external sounds are always popular with their sets comprising of cheeky bootlegs, mash-ups, and party anthems from the likes of Prince, Madonna, and The Beatles which are skilfully blended to classic beats from the hip hop and house genres. For this performance they have put together a brand new set with extra festive cheer that is sure to be a crowd pleaser!

The Front bar which is been hosted by External Sounds will be exclusively for external sounds ticket holders only for the early part of the night. External sounds ticket holders will receive a wristband which will allow them go to and from the front bar and the nightclub as the please. These External Sounds Tickets are priced 10 euros only, while the entrance fee on the night is 20 euros. Because of the size of the front bar, There is only a small amount of external sounds tickets for this night. They will be available from the Fusion Front Bar from Thursday 13th of December and are limited to 4 tickets per person. Tickets are expect to sell out very quickly
so early purchase is advised.
